CHURCH HISTORY

In 1973, Rev. Wayne Odum, along with his wife and eleven children, moved to Dayville, CT with a burden to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of the “Quiet Corner”.  At first, people met in their homes.  As they continued meeting this way, the opportunity came to purchase a building on Route 101.  They became known as “Pentecostal Lighthouse”.

Tragically, in the early 1980’s Pastor Odum was diagnosed with terminal cancer and passed into Heaven in 1985.  Pentecostal Lighthouse continued to minister to the community with the assistance of various UPCI ministers that gave of their time in the Lord’s service until Rev. Mark Odum was elected as Pastor.

In the Fall of 1989, Rev. Robert Costa was elected as Pastor of Pentecostal Lighthouse.  Under his ministry, the building was sold in 1992 and moved to its current location at 6 Academy Street in Danielson.  The name of the church was changed to First Apostolic Church of Danielson.

Rev. Steven Leite and His wife, Deborah, moved from Plymouth, Ma to Danielson to serve as Pastor from 1995 to 2016.  Under his leadership, First Apostolic Church worked to fulfill the call of Jesus and preach the Gospel to every creature.  Even after retiring as pastor, the Leites served First Apostolic Church as a leader and mentor. Giving 26 years to the ministry at the church before moving back to Massachusetts with family.
